communing commuting

the opposite of rush hour

Yesterday I was reminded yet again why I chose to live in Maine. Several spectacular hours spent paddling practically in my own backyard in Freeport. Yet it was my first paddle of the season as all too often I get derailed by ‘thinking’ about all the prep it’s gonna take to go and do that and do I really have time to go and do that?? and yadda yadda…

This communing commuting to no where in particular was filled with hawk sitings, tidal shifts, a deliciously glorious swim, gentle exploration of coastal coves with no chance of being pulled over for speeding. The only crime is that I haven’t done this more often this summer. Thankfully the penalty for this crime is a commitment to make the time to do this more often this summer.

  1. It can get hard to get over the hurdle of all the gear. I feel that way often about biking. Once I get out there, I’m so happy.
